Allan Park, Cove.
Morton dispatched Highland league Cove Rangers with the minimum of fuss on what was an ideal day for football in the north of Scotland.
2 early goals settled any nerves and the Ton ran out 7-1 winners in the end through Millar (2), Jason (2), Spoonsy, Adam & the pick of the bunch - a 20 yard curler from Warren Hawke.
Throughly deserved Man of the Match went to Paul Walker who had the beating of the the Cove defence but unlike on previous occassions this season he made his possession count and had a hand in a number of the Ton goals.
A good performance from the Ton whose passing at times was a joy to watch - The scoreline could have easily been double figures but for good goalkeeping & overelaboration. Chris Millar could indeed have had a hat-trick had it not been for a shocking miss from 6 yds with the goal at his mercy. Chris then followed this up with a cracking drive from 25 yards that hit the top of the bar.
Only downside of the day was injury suffered by Stewart Greacen midway through the 1st half - it looks as though it may be a hamstring injury which would result in the big guy being out for 6 weeks. Spoonsy dropped back into the centre half role with Hawke coming on to good effect up front.
All in all a good days work for the Ton - !st time i've seen them scoring 7 goals in a single game.
Roll on the next round !!!!!
